Svejk is the main character of the four-part humorous novel by writer Jaroslav Hašek, The Fate of the Good Soldier Svejk during the World War. It is the most translated Czech novel and is thus Hašek's most important work. The good soldier Josef Švejk is such a distinctive character that people speak of his typically Czech qualities.
