Along Na Příkopech, we travel in imagination from the vibrant Paris of 1900 to the heart of Bohemia. Mucha spent his formative years wandering these very streets as a penniless student — before setting out to conquer the salons of Paris and the world.
We stop at the magnificent Municipal House café — coffee not included — then head from the Powder Tower towards Klementinum, listening to Mucha's own memories of Prague as we pass through Old Town Square and Mariánské náměstí, the city as he knew it before the demolition of the old Jewish Quarter.
At the Klementinum astronomical tower, we explore the story of the Slav Epic, then continue to Anenské náměstí, where we dive into the world of spiritism, Freemasons and Templars, slipping through a hidden alleyway into the secret heart of old Prague.
Through Bethelem square, we arrive at Bartolomějská — a street of repression and medieval burial grounds — as a symbolic farewell to Alfons Mucha, who died in 1939 following interrogation by the Gestapo. We step into the hidden courtyard of the Jesuit Convent and bring the story to a close at Café Slavia, long a gathering place for Prague's cultural elite.
