Product description
This audio walk takes you beneath the surface of Art Nouveau beauty. It is not just for art lovers, but for anyone who wants to see Prague through the eyes of a genius.
The route begins at his museum in Kounický palác, where you will see the most famous original posters. Combined with a museum entry ticket, the audio guide offers a complete portrait of the artist: painter, Freemason, mystic and patriot who devoted twenty years of his life to a single monumental work.
Along Na Příkopech, we travel in imagination from the vibrant Paris of 1900 to the heart of Bohemia. Mucha spent his formative years wandering these very streets as a penniless student — before setting out to conquer the salons of Paris and the world.
We stop at the magnificent Municipal House café — coffee not included — then head from the Powder Tower towards Klementinum, listening to Mucha's own memories of Prague as we pass through Old Town Square and Mariánské náměstí, the city as he knew it before the demolition of the old Jewish Quarter.
At the Klementinum astronomical tower, we explore the story of the Slav Epic, then continue to Anenské náměstí, where we dive into the world of spiritism, Freemasons and Templars, slipping through a hidden alleyway into the secret heart of old Prague.
Through Bethelem square, we arrive at Bartolomějská — a street of repression and medieval burial grounds — as a symbolic farewell to Alfons Mucha, who died in 1939 following interrogation by the Gestapo. We step into the hidden courtyard of the Jesuit Convent and bring the story to a close at Café Slavia, long a gathering place for Prague's cultural elite.
As exclusive bonuses, a stop at one of Prague's legal graffiti walls tells the story of how Mucha survived into the next century — his portrait appears today on the walls of American boulevards and far beyond the borders of Europe. And a symbolic visit to his grave at Slavín on Vyšehrad reveals the occult practices he shared with his closest friends.
