The miniature depicts the St. Vitus Cathedral which is the largest and the most important temple in Prague. Apart from religious services, coronations of Czech kings and queens also took place here. A cathedral is a place of burial of several patron saints, sovereigns, noblemen, and archbishops. This Gothic cathedral was founded in 1344 on the site of the original Romanesque rotunda. The construction took nearly 600 years and was finally completed in 1929.
