What to Expect
Just 10 minutes tram ride from Charles Bridge, the „High Castle“ Vyšehrad offers a peaceful yet powerful experience far from the tourist hustle. Once a royal seat of Bohemian dukes and later a baroque imperial fortress, today it remains one of Prague’s most atmospheric and symbolic places — full of national pride, mystery, and mythology.
It was from here that the legendary princess Libuše made her famous prophecy about the future city of Prague: “I see a great city whose glory will one day touch the stars.”
On this 2.5-hour small-group afternoon tour, you’ll explore:
- The neo-Gothic Basilica of St. Peter and St. Paul, including its breathtaking Art Nouveau interior with Alfons Mucha–inspired frescoes
- The 11th-century Rotunda of St. Martin
- The Czech National Cemetery, resting place of Czech legends like Dvořák and Mucha, or the Communist regime’s heroic victim Milada Horakova
- The mysterious Devil’s Column
- Scenic views over the Vltava River and other Prague neighbourhoods
We will take a short tram ride (ticket included) and then walk approx. 3.5 km / 2.2 miles with a one solid set of stairs (the rest is mostly flat and down stairs). The activity level for this experience is Moderate.
We’ll also stop for a relaxing break at a local café or beer garden — and yes, your drink (wine, beer, coffee or soft) is included in the tour price!
We’re genuinely excited to guide you through this enchanting place and share the stories, secrets, and beauty that make Vyšehrad so special.
