Petřín Hill offers far more than just Prague’s own “Eiffel Tower.” Here you will discover a working observatory, beautiful rose gardens, hidden sculptures, peaceful parks, and charming forest paths. Most importantly, after the noise of the city, you will step into a world of quiet, fresh air, and magical calm among the fairytale-like trails of Petřín.
So much to discover awaits you
This green hill in the very heart of Prague was once believed to be a sacred place connected with Perun, the ancient Slavic god of thunder. In the 19th century, it became an important site of Christian pilgrimage.
Petřín is home to many historic monuments. Yet one of its most powerful memorials — the Memorial to the Victims of Communism, unveiled in 2002 — reminds visitors that the tragedy of lost human lives connects modern history with the darkest moments of the Middle Ages.
Visit the Church of Saint Lawrence and discover the meaning behind the mysterious “Tears of Saint Lawrence.”
Walking along the Stations of the Cross, you will follow the final path of Jesus Christ, visit the Chapel of the Holy Sepulchre, and see the Chapel of Calvary.
Of course, you can also enter the famous Mirror Maze. From the outside, it looks like a small castle, but inside you will find a playful world of endless reflections, curved mirrors, and optical illusions.
The Petřín Lookout Tower, inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris, hides its own fascinating story of construction — one more mystery waiting to be uncovered during your journey up the hill.
If you would like to gaze at the stars or even buy a real meteorite fragment as a souvenir, Petřín Observatory is the perfect place to visit. Here you will also learn about the fate of a Czech national hero whose name was given to the observatory itself.
And naturally, you will enjoy the scent of more than 10,000 roses in Prague’s largest rose garden. The Petřín viewpoints reveal unforgettable panoramas of Golden Prague, while the ponds, waterfalls, the Kinsky Summer Palace, and the “Gate of Time” fountain create the romantic atmosphere of Prague’s summer evenings and the magic of winter in the city.
Interesting facts and mysteries
A terrible curse of Perun is about to strike the Earth. An asteroid has come dangerously close, threatening to destroy Petřín Hill, Prague, and everything in the path of its burning fragments.
To save the city, unusual allies have joined forces: a young astronomer named Irenka and Saint Lawrence himself. But they cannot succeed without your help. Together, you must solve the strange riddles hidden inside the ancient manuscript of the astronomer Michal, who once discovered a secret way to save the world.
Yet there is one final mystery — and without solving it, the plan will fail.
Are you ready to solve our puzzles and riddles, face the fury of an ancient pagan god, and awaken the humanity hidden within him? It may be the only way to save the world from cosmic disaster…
